Lanimer Queen 2007

Jenna Ann McLellan (St Mary's Primary School)

Jenna Ann McLellan who lives in the Wellgate, was elected Lanimer Queen by popular vote of her fellow pupils at St Mary's Primary School, where she is a pupil in Primary 7. She is looking forward to her Lanimer role, as are her parents, Andrew and Eleanor, and her little sister, Lucy. Her Aunt Ann was a Maid in the 1966 Lanimer Court. Jenna's grandparents, Betty and George McLellan, ran the shop in The Rodding, where generations of Lanark Primary pupils went for sweets. Jenna is an enthusiastic participant in her school drama club and is also a member of the Lanark Amateur Musical Society (LAMS). She took part in this year's production of 'Oliver', so is already familiar with the stage in the Memorial Hall, a good foundation for Lanimer Week. Jenna likes to listen to pop music, but her heart lies in singing more traditional, and classical music. One of her recent performances included a Burns' solo of the favourite, 'Ye Banks and Braes'. Jenna's favourite colour is pink. Her bright pink ball gown will make its official appearance. We wish Jenna well as she carries out all her Lanimer duties, and leave the last word to a Wellgate neighbour who described her as 'a real nice wee lassie who deserves the honour'.
