LANARK LANIMER DAY
An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.
 

The Lord Cornet's Lanimer Day 2007

8.30am   Ex-Lord Cornets escort Lord Cornet Brian Ross in mounted procession from Hardacres, via Bellefield Road, Cleghorn Road, Gallowhill Road to Hall Place and Memorial Hall car park.
9.15am   Lord Cornet and ex-Lord Cornets, on horseback, proceed to Bloomgate via Gallowhill Road and Cleghorn Road, then form up behind bands.
9.30am   Massed bands lead Cornets' Procession from Bloomgate, by High Street (N) and stop in St Leonard Street at Memorial Hall.
9.40am   40am 'Safe Oot, Safe In' Toast by Provost of South Lanarkshire outside Memorial Hall. Procession continues up St Leonard Street. Cornets assemble in Highburgh Avenue. Bands assemble in Stanmore Avenue.
     
10.00am   Lord Cornet leads Lanimer Morning Procession from St Leonard Street.
11.30am (approx)   Lord Cornet carries Burgh Standard of the Royal Burgh of Lanark to Crowning Dias.
     
1.40pm   Lord Cornet's Foot Procession, with massed bands, leaves Ladyacre Road for Castlebank via Bannatyne Street, High Street (S) and Castlegate.
     
2.15pm   Lord Cornet's Lanimer Ride Out leaves from Delves Park, through the fields to New Lanark. The ride-out follows tracks to the Lady Mary, through fields to the Racecourse, Sandy Brae, Lanark Golf Course, Whitelees Road, to Smyllum Drive heading for the Carstairs Road. They cross into the fields and make for Cleghorn Bridge, where the Lord Cornet will inspect the March Stone. The ride-out will return via the fields to Carstairs Road, Smyllum Drive, Whitelees Road and Ladyacre Road.
     
5.00pm   Lord Cornet's Equestrian Procession assembles at Ladyacre Road/Hyndford Road to process to Lanark Cross for the Lord Cornet's Declaration.
5.15pm (approx)   Massed bands lead Lord Cornet's Mounted Procession via Ladyacre Road, Bannatyne Street and High Sreet (S) to the Cross.
5.30pm   Lord Cornet Brian Ross makes his Declaration at Lanark Cross,
followed by the Fanfare and National Anthem.
Cornets depart arena.
     
7.30pm   Lord Cornet attends Lanimer Queen's Reception.
