The Other Ladies 2007

Katrina Ross, wife of the Lord Cornet, is looking forward to supporting her husband through all the events during Lanimer week. She is kept busy with her two daughters, Katie and Allyson, and with her job as a Hospital and NHS Specialist for Norgine Pharmaceuticals.

Katrina fills her spare time with many activities. She is a member of the Lanark Road Safety Dog Club, and also participates in dog agility activities with the family pet, Jody. Katrina enjoys Keep Fit classes at the New Winston and also attends Pony Club events with her children.

Her companion throughout Lanimer week will be her friend Carole Westbrook. We hope they enjoy both their official and social engagements, and build a store of happy memories across the twelve months of Brian's role as the Standard Bearer of the Royal Burgh of Lanark.

Margaret Weir was surprised, but delighted to be given the honour of Sashing this year's Lord Cornet. She and her husband, Robert, came to Lanark 26 years ago. Their son, Douglas and his wife, Fiona, live in Edinburgh, and their daughter Lorna, her husband Bill, and a much favoured granddaughter, Emma, who will be five this year, live in Derbyshire. For 23 years Margaret has been involved with Riding for the Disabled. She was a founder member of the Clydesdale group who hold their classes at their home, Sunnyside, and sat on their committee for 21 years. She has also served on the West and Central Scotland Regional Committee for the last 14 years. She confesses, however, "I like a fence between a horse and me!" Margaret's other hobbies include skiing and walking in the Alps, and curling. She is looking forward, enthusiastically, to the traditional events of Lanimer Week, to her role, which she sees more as recognition for her work with Riding for the Disabled that as a personal accolade, and wishes everyone who joins our celebrations a 'Happy Lanimers'.
June McGregor is proud to have been asked to pin the Lord Cornet's Club Badge on the Standard Bearer's lapel. A Lanarkian, born and bred, she understands traditions associated with Lanimer celebrations and their importance to the town and its heritage.

June's family has been her greatest joy. Her daughter, Linda, and son-in-law, John, have two children, Sally (15) and Jack (12). Her son, Gordon, is the current President of the Lord Cornets' Club. He, his wife, Gillian, and their children Amy (8) and Ellie (5) are well known in the town. It was their suggestion that June carry out this duty at the Cross during the Shifting of the Standard ceremony, since Gillian had performed the task last year.

June is an active member of the Lanimer Committee, a main current role escorting the Lanimer judges. She is also greatly involved in the life of Greyfriars Church and is a long time member of Lanark's Christian Aid Council. She has had enormous pleasure in supporting Gordon in recent years, in his Lanimer duties, and looks forward to sharing in these on Marches night.
