LANARK LANIMER DAY
An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

SUNDAY 8 JUNE

11.40am Procession leaves Memorial Hall for The Cross via High Street.
12 noon Kirkin' of the Lord Cornet-Elect, John Dickman. Service in St Nicholas Parish Church.

Invitation Fours: Lanark Waterloo Bowling Club.

MONDAY 9 JUNE

6.00pm Perambulation of the Marches depart via Sheriff Court Building, Hope Street.
7.15pm Display of Dancing at Lanark Cross, by Celia Orr School of Dancing (weather permitting).
7.50pm Lanimer Silver Club Draw by Mrs May Dickman.
8.00pm

Equestrian Procession and Perambulation group leave from top of St Leonard Street.
8.15pm Shifting of the Standard of the Royal Burgh of Lanark ceremony at Lanark Cross,
  Followed by Sashing of the Lord Cornet by Mrs Mary Margaret Meldrum.
  Pinning of the Cornets' Club Badge on the Lord Cornet by Mrs Margaret Strachan.
  Award of Jimmy Hamilton Memorial Shield to best turned out young rider.

WEDNESDAY 11 JUNE

5.45pm Lord Cornet, ex-Lord Cornets and local riders muster at Delves Park.
5.55pm Lord Cornet and supporters proceed via Castlegate to The Cross.
Send-off by Chairman of Lanark Lanimer Committee.
6.00pm Lord Cornet's Official Ride-out leaves via High Street (North Side), Bannatyne Street, Ladyacre Road, and Whitelees Road to Racecourse.

Traditional Lanimer Races at Racecourse ('Back Straight' towards Barracks end).
7.20pm Riders depart Country Park car park for Clear Burn March Stone, via Robiesland, to New Lanark.
8.00pm Riders arrive at New Lanark. Welcome from New Lanark Community Council and offer of good wishes to President of Lord Cornets' Club.
Presentation of the New Lanark 'Loving Cup' to Lanimer Queen-Elect, Sarah Smith.
Presentation of prizes for horse races at Racecourse.
8.30pm Ride out returns via Braxfield Lodge, Braxfield, Hollow Park to Delves Park.

THURSDAY 12 JUNE

9.00am Assembly and judging of Lanimer entries: top of St Leonard Street and adjacent streets.
9.30am Massed bands and Cornets' Procession leaves from Bloomgate, via High Street, to St Leonard Street.
9.40am "Safe Oot, Safe In" Toast by Provost of South Lanarkshire Council, at Memorial Hall.
  Lord Cornets' Procession moves forward to St Leonard Street and into Highburgh Avenue.
  Spectators are asked to keep access to Highburgh Avenue and Stanmore Avenue clear for exit.
10.00am Lord Cornet John Dickman leads Morning Procession from St Leonard Street at Highburgh Avenue.
11.30am

Crowning of Sarah Smith, Lanimer Queen for 2008.
12 noon (approx) Castlebank Park events begin for all the family.
1.40pm (approx) Lord Cornet's Foot Procession leaves from Charing Cross with massed bands.
2.15pm Lord Cornet's Equestrian Lanimer Ride Out leaves from Delves Park.
5.15pm Tattoo Spectacular at Lanark Cross.
5.15pm Massed Pipe Bands and Riders leave for The Cross via Ladyacre Road to High Street (South).
5.30pm Lord Cornet's Declaration at Lanark Cross.
7.30pm Lanimer Queen's Reception in the Memorial Hall.

The Lanimer Quaich: Invitation Mixed Pairs at Lanark Thistle Bowling Club, Castlehill.
