LANARK LANIMER DAY
An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.
 

The Lord Cornet's Lanimer Day 2008

8.30am   Members of the Lord Cornets' Club escort Lord Cornet John Dickman from Newlands Street via Hyndford Road, Ladyacre Road, Bannatyne Street, St Leonard Street, Kildare Road, Gallowhill Road, to Hall Place and Memorial Hall Car Park.
9.15am   Lord Cornet and riders proceed to Bloomgate via Gallowhill Road, Cleghorn Road and Hope Street.
9.30am   Massed bands and riders leave Bloomgate for St Leonard Street via High Street (North).
9.40am   'Safe Oot, Safe In' Toast by Provost of South Lanarkshire outside Memorial Hall. Procession continues up St Leonard Street and riders turn into Highburgh Avenue.
    Spectators are asked to keep clear access to Highburgh Avenue and Stanmore Avenue.
These are official points for Lord Cornet's Procession and Bands to enter St Leonard St.
10.00am   Lord Cornet enters St Leonard Street from Highburgh Avenue to lead Morning Procession.
11.30am (approx)   Lord Cornet carries Burgh Standard of the Royal Burgh of Lanark to Crowning Dias.
1.40pm   Lord Cornet leads Foot Procession to Castlebank via Ladyacre Road, Bannatyne Street, High Street (South Side) and Castlegate.
2.15pm   Lord Cornet leads Official Ride-Out from Delves Park, through the fields to New Lanark; by tracks and fields to Lanark Racecourse and Whitelees Road via the Golf Course.
Riders then make for Cleghorn Bridge via Smyllum Drive and Carstairs Road, where the Lord Cornet will inspect the Mousebrig March Stone, then return via fields to Carstairs Road, Smyllum Drive, Whitelees Road and Ladyacre Road.
5.15pm   Massed bands and Lord Cornets' Procession leaves Charing Cross (junction of Ladyacre Road and Hyndford Road) for The Cross via Ladyacre Road, Bannatyne Street and High Sreet (South).
5.30pm   Lord Cornet John Dickman makes his Declaration at Lanark Cross.
7.30pm   Lord Cornet attends Lanimer Queen's Reception.
