Lanimer Champion 2010

Jonathan Kennedy (Lanark Grammar School)

Jonathan is a third year pupil at Lanark Grammar School and has two well-known Lanark families supporting him, the Kennedys and the Doolans. His parents are both Lanarkians and used to the Lanimers and its traditions. Jonathan's great grandfather, Joe Doolan, used to cut the birks for the Marches at Glenburnie and his great-great grandfather wrote a Lanimer poem. His twin sisters Sarah and Lauren will be on the Robert Owen entry this year. Another lively member of the family is its pet Jack Russell, Molly.

Jonathan first appeared in the Lanimer procession aged one and a half as a rain cloud, with Freda and Friends. Since then his disguises have included a cat and a soldier. Last year he was an Outrider and is looking forward to his principal role this year. He cuts a fine figure on 'Poppy', whose owner Vicky McGuinness had her groomed to perfection for her 'date' with a Champion. Enjoy adding to the Kennedy and Doolan Lanimer memories, Jonathan!
