Provost's Message
"The Lanimers" is again with us. This ancient
festival is something which has grown with the passage of years. From
the simple ceremony of perambulating the marches it has become a full
week of great festivity. Backed by history and tradition and presented
with charm, colour and beauty it is now recognised as one of Scotland's
foremost spectacles.
The committee responsible for the presentation of
this brochure are to be congratulated. It is obvious that their object
is to capture the spirit of the Lanimers and I am sure their efforts in
the future will be inspired if the reading of their work at home or in
some distant land gives pleasure and recalls memories of bygone days.
Happy Lanimers for 1967.
William S. Toy
Provost of Lanark
