LANARK LANIMER DAY
An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

Provost's Message

Lanimer or Landmarch Day an annual festival connected with the perambulation of the boundaries of the lands belonging to the ancient and Royal Burgh of Lanark.

The modern ceremonies associated with Lanimer Day festivities are many and varied, having gradually evolved over several centuries from a simple "Ryding The Merches" ceremony to the weeks festivities we know today, but Lanimer Day proper is still celebrated on the Thursday falling between 6th and 12th June as it was in olden times.

This excellent Brochure is commended to all as an authentic record of Lanimer Day 1968.

Andrew W. Yuill
Provost of Lanark
