LANARK LANIMER DAY
An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

Lanimer Memories

Last year's Lord Cornet ready to lead off in stately form.

There's a day all Lanark hearts hold dear,
Look forward to with pride;
Though parted from the dear old town,
And scattered far and wide,
Their thoughts turn ever homewards
To the place where they were born;
And in fancy see the splendour
Of Lanark Lanimer morn.

Their childhood days come back to them,
Those golden memories dear,
And hear the bands all playing
While the bells ring loud and clear;
They see the birks awaving,
The cheers seem like a storm,
Oh happy, happy memories
Of Lanark Lanimer morn.

The Lanimer Queen is escorted by the First Lord to the Crowning Dias.

Here she comes our chosen Queen
With smiling happy face,
Her carriage and attendants
Any pageant could grace;
And there the Standard Bearer
Leads off in stately form;
He is the central figure
Of Lanark Lanimer morn.

And last of all - that pleasing sight,
The crowning of the Queen,
As the crown is placed upon her head
A lovely royal scene:
Though far away from the dear old town
From our memory will ne'er be shorn
Our homeland and our native place
And Lanark Lanimer morn.
