The Provost Of South Lanarkshire Council

I feel most honoured, yet again, to be asked to write a wee message for the proud Lanarkians and their guests at the Lanimers. Indeed, the preparations of this unique spectacle is so complex, so elaborate and so impressive that one can't help but express a very deep sense of gratitude to the active participants - school children, parents, teachers, voluntary workers, community groups and indeed each and every member of the Lanimer community whose insight, experience and foresight is fully utilised to prove to the rest of the United Kingdom that the Lanimers is unique in all its various manifestations.

I, along with Councillor Eddie McAvoy, Leader of the Council, and the South Lanarkshire Councillors, particularly Depute Provost Mary McNeill and Councillor Brian Reilly, feel most proud to he closely associated with the Lanimer celebrations of the Royal Burgh of Lanark, the celebrations that so vividly demonstrate the sheer zeal, enthusiasm and commitment of a very cohesive and a "united in mission" community. Indeed it is a tremendous achievement for any community to mount such an unparalleled spectacle year after year after year. I congratulate every single person whose benevolent contribution, in any way, is instrumental in causing so much happiness and pleasure to so many people.

On behalf of the council may I and my wife Rubina wish everyone a very enjoyable and happy Lanimers!
