LANARK LANIMER DAY
An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

Days Of Auld Lang Syne

Dae yi mind o' Dandy's Park
Where we used to play and lark
Where on summer nights we chased the moths
In winter sledged the brae
Dae yi mind o' peeries cleeks and girds
And games o' Haralee
Then we slept through the night till the morning

Can yi no still smell the Bakehouse
When the bread's just newly oot
Can yi no hear Wullie Davie
Crying that there's been a drought
Can yi no feel prickly chestnuts
Freshly oot frae Dr Thom's
Or the sound o' the dustcart in the morning

Dae yi mind o' days at Leechford
O'er the iron brig doon the path
Where beside the Moose we sunned oorselves
Or raked among the grass
Or tae Terra Cotta's Phillet Burn
Tae guddle for the trout
And tae wake up a' cleg bitten in the morning

Can yi no still hear the Kirk bells
As they send their cry to come
Whether it be on a Sunday
Or at ten on Lanimer morn
Does yir heart no' jump
In yir throat a lump
Tae hear the pipers pipe
And the clip clop of the hooves on that morning
