LANARK LANIMER DAY
An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

Mrs Maggi Allan

Well known to our School Entrants, Mrs Allan is Director of Education with South Lanarkshire Council and has been a visitor to our Lanimer celebrations in previous years.

Mrs and Mrs Steven Bouchard

A warm welcome is extended to Mr and Mrs Bouchard as they join us from Jersey to assist in the judging this year. Well known to many Lanarkians, they have been involved for many years in the Battle of the Flowers celebrations in Jersey.

Lord Lieutenant and Mrs Gilbert Cox

Although they have not previously been Procession Judges, Gilbert and his wife have been participants in Lanimer Day since he took up his appointment as Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire in the year 2000. Hailing from Airdrie, Gilbert is also well known within Boys' Brigade circles.

Mr and Mrs Stewart Evison

Mr and Mrs Evison may join us from Yorkshire with their vintage car.

Mr and Mrs Bruce Jamieson

A second visit to Lanark as Procession Judges for Bruce and Dorothy Jamieson. Bruce is the Provost of the Court of Deacons of the Ancient and Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, a town with which Lanark shares much history and to whose annual festivities representatives of our Lanimer Committee are invited.

Sir Donald and Mrs McLean

Following upon his speech at the Guildry Dinner this year, Sir Donald, who is a past Dean of the Guildry of Ayr, will return to Lanark to act as a Procession Judge along with his wife.

Chief Constable and Mrs William Rae

We welcome to our celebrations this year Strathclyde Police Force's Chief Constable and his wife. The Chief Constable was formerly with the Dumfries and Galloway Force and took part in local traditional festivals at that time.

Sheriff Nikola Stewart and Companion

Sheriff Stewart is a graduate of Dundee University, and having been a Q.C. following her graduation, was installed as Sheriff at Lanark in November 2000. She is married with two children, and will bring as her Companion for Lanimer Day one of her hard working staff at the Sheriff Court.
