The Royal Burgh of Lanark Crest
Lanark Lanimers - One of Scotland's Oldest Traditions Lanimer Mascot - Larry Lanimer Mascot - Bonnie

An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

The Chairman of the Community Council

What's the secret behind the annual success of our Lanimer Celebrations? Does it lie in the many spectacular and enjoyable events in the weeklong festival? Yes, but no but! The key to Lanimers' success lies in the provision of so much time, energy and talent by countless hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Not just the organising Lanimer Committee! (And, not just Lanarkians!). There is another unseen, unheralded, army of enthusiasts; parents; teachers; children; friends; relatives; blackmail victims etc; who all make their contribution, great or small.

Hopefully, as all of the new homes being built within our boundaries are occupied -many with families who have chosen Lanark simply because of its community spirit, so evident at Lanimer time - this army of volunteers will become ever larger, and the Lanimers ever more successful.

We also must thank another, more visible army. That of South Lanark Council who provide so much support in cash, in kind, and by their participation. Enjoy the week as only Lanarkians can and don't forget  to wish a "Happy Lanimers" to all our new residents and any visitors or council workers you come across.

Happy Lanimers.
