An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

JOHN CAMPBELL PEACOCK, 9 Hyndford Rood, Supervising Postal Telegraph Officer, has been connected with the Lanimer Committee for some ten years, serving latterly as Secretary and Vice-Convener of the entertainments committee, who have raised so much of the necessary funds. He is joint convener of bands arranging bands for the procession of outstanding quality and he is secretary and treasurer of the pipe band committee, which evolved from the entertainments committee. The Lord Cornet is a member of St John's choir and the panto club and takes an active interest in community affairs. He is married with a married son and a daughter still at school.
