An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

JAMES HAMILTON, Old Bridgend, Lanark, a local Master Slater and Plasterer. He has ridden the Marches since 1947 and for many years has been an enthusiastic member of the Lanimer Committee. Recently he was appointed as one of the Pony Gymkhana Judges at the Racecourse. Like his predecessor he has ridden most of the other March ridings and is a Mosstrooper of Hawick. Jimmy is married with three children, Allan (10), Carol (7) and David (4), who all hope to support their father this year on horseback.
