An ancient celebration held within the Royal Burgh of Lanark on the Thursday between the Sixth and Twelfth days of June annually since the year 1140.

DR. BILL CRIGGIE, "Orchard Dell", Mousepath, Lanark, is this year's Lord Comet. Born in Kirkcaldy, his family came to Lanark when he was five, and as a child he took part in Lanimer Processions. He is now senior partner in the town's health centre and takes an active part in the community. He is a member of the Lanimer Committee, the Guildry, and the Rotary Club. In his spare time he enjoys a game of golf. He and his wife Heather have two children, Bill and Kirsten.
