Sashing Lady 2004 SelectedMrs Joy Reilly has been invited to sash this year's Lord Cornet. Joy (53) has a long history of community work in Lanark. She is currently vice chair of the local Cancer Research UK committee, with 25 years service to that group, she is secretary of Lanark Panto Clud and a former wardrobe mistress, making the costumes for many years, and as a member of the Lanimer Committee is a past convener of its entertainment committee. Joy is proud of Lanark's Lanimer traditions, and for many years in the 1980s helped with the Vena Kelly lorries in the procession. She the started working with Christine and Sinclair McPhail on their Lanimer entries, and this year's will be their 10th together. Joy also enjoys gardening, and supports her husband Brian, a local councillor. They have two daughters, Cheryl who was Lanimer Queen in 1985, and Beverley, and are looking forward eagerly to the birth of their first grandchild later this year. Joy is delighted at being invited to sash the Cornet. "I am really surprised, I couldn't believe it," she said. "I think Brian is more excited than I am. He is really over the moon for me."
