Lanimer Queen Elect 2006 Selected

Melissa is chosen as Lanimer Queen for 2006

Rhyber Avenue resident Melissa Reid is "very chuffed" at being appointed as Lanimer Queen-elect after a Lanimer Court vote by her fellow Lanark Grammar students on Monday afternoon.

The 12-year-old S1 pupil's proud mother Suzanne told the Gazette on Tuesday: "Melissa is over the moon and very chuffed. I'm quite overcome as she is the first family member to have been given such an honour.

"Melissa is a happy and bubbly girl who is full of life. Like any 12-year-old girl, she enjoys dancing, drawing and writing stories."

Standing behind Melissa in our picture are the others chosen, (from left) Chief Maids Micha Tweed of Forrest Road and Kayleigh McMahon of Cleghorn Avenue plus Maids Chelsea McLellan of St Leonard Street and Jenna Blair of Newtonhead Road, Rigside.

Meanwhile Lanark Primary School has also chosen its 2006 Court members, all P7 pupils. They are Maids Poppy Raeside-Cumming of Friarsfield Road and Marianne Thomson of St Nicholas Road plus Heralds Neal Cowan of St Kentigerns Road and Kevin Prentice of Auctioneers Way.

The other schools in and around Lanark who choose court members will announce their names over the coming week or so.
