Lord Cornet Installed

At Lanark Cross on Monday 5th June, Kenneth Douglas was installed as Lord Cornet and Standard Bearer for the Royal Burgh of Lanark for 2006.

Following the Perambulation of the Marches, and after having been returned by the previous Lord Cornet, Tom Waddell, Kenny was presented with the Burgh Standard by Chairman of the Lanimer Committee, Mrs Sylvia Russell. The events were witnessed by thousands of local residents and many visitors to the Royal Burgh.

The new Lord Cornet was then presented with his Sash by Miss Karen Kelly, and his Gold Badge of Office by Mrs Gillian McGregor. The Shifting of the Royal Burgh Standard ceremony was concluded with the singing of Scots Wha Hae.

Children's Races were then held at Castlebank Park, and the evening was concluded with the Lord Cornet's Reception held in Lanark Memorial Hall.
