Sashing Lady 2007 Selected

Chosen to Sash Lord Cornet

Mrs Margaret Weir of Sunnyside has been invited to sash this year's Lord Cornet, Brian Ross.

The Weirs are perhaps best known for their support of Clydesdale Riding for the Disabled, which takes place at Sunnyside, but they are also supporters of the Lanimer celebrations, frequently lending cars to transport members of the court around the procession route - in particular an open-topped Rolls Royce in the past for the queen. Robert and Margaret have also been procession judges.

The other lady who will be to the fore during the Sashing of the Cornet, at Lanark Cross on Monday June 4, is Mrs June McGregor. Her son Gordon McGregor is serving a second term of office as President of the Lord Cornet's Club, and he has asked her to pin the gold club badge on the new cornet.
