Lord Cornets' Club Winter Social

Lord Cornet Elect John Dickman, Ex-Lord Cornet Kevan Carty, George MacDonald, President Ex-Lord Cornet David Strachan, Bernie Armstrong and Lord Cornet Brian Ross.

The Lord Cornets’ Club held their 2008 Winter Social on Saturday 23rd February, with a capacity attendance of sixty present in the Tolbooth in Lanark. As well as being a social evening, this event also allows The Lord Cornets’ Club to thank the landowners and others who provide excellent assistance during Lanimer Week.

Following Grace by Lord Cornet Elect John Dickman and an excellent meal, the Toast to the Lord Cornet and The Lord Cornets’ Club was proposed by Bernie Armstrong from Hawick, a Past President of the Ancient Order of Mosstroopers. Ex-Lord Cornet Kevan Carty replied to this toast and also proposed a Toast to Our Guests. The Man of Humour for the evening was George MacDonald from Burnbank, making his third appearance in Lanark this year, following his presence at Burns Suppers held by Lanark Bowling Club and St Nicholas Parish Church. The evening concluded with a Vote of Thanks from Ex-Lord Cornet Leslie Downie, who was in turn thanked for his organisation of the evening.
