Sashing Lady 2008 Selected

Mary's Sash Delight

The woman invited to sash this year's Lord Cornet is Mary Margaret Meldrum.

Mary Margaret, who has lived in Lanark for almost a quarter of a century, teaches at Stanmore House School, but is probably better known as the energetic leader of the Choir of St Mary's.

She said she was very surprised, delighted and honoured, to have been chosen.

She will sash Cornet-elect John Dickman at Lanark Cross on Marches Night, Monday, June 9.

John will received his Cornets Club badge from Margaret Strachan, mother of David Strachan, president of the Cornets Club.
