Kelso Races - Border Principals Race

Brian Ross from Lanark and Gordon Hamilton from Biggar participated in the Border Principals Race at Kelso Races on Sunday 5th October as part of the Radio Borders Family Fun Day Meeting.

The race was for all the Principals of 2008. However, there was a weight limit, so for any of the Principals who could not race they were allowed to enter a past Principal. The race this year featured representatives from Hawick, Lanark, Galashiels, Kelso, Melrose, Peebles, Biggar, Berwick, Penicuik, Jedburgh, Selkirk, Yetholm, Musselburgh and Duns.

The race was won by Ben Graham from Hawick riding Winner Takes It All. Ex-Lord Cornet Brian Ross, riding Gimme Gimme Gimme, finished just out of the places in 4th, while Gordon Hamilton, riding Fernando, finished further down the field. All the riders were supported by a large number of representatives from the Border Towns.
